
Shannon Orme, a native of Frederick, MD, joined the clarinet section of Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 2007. A former student of Richard Hawkins, Lawrie Bloom and Yehuda Gilad, she received degrees from Interlochen Arts Academy, Northwestern University (B.Mus) and University of Southern California (M.Mus). Before coming to Detroit, Shannon held the position of Co-Principal Clarinet with the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra in Osaka Japan. An avid supporter of new music, Shannon is a member of New Music Detroit and performed with the Lucerne Festival Academy for two seasons under Pierre Boulez. Shannon is a dedicated educator. She currently teaches at Eastern Michigan University and conducts clinics and master classes throughout the country.
