MDSO Gift Music To Less Fortunate

DSO MUSICIANS GIVE THE GIFT OF MUSIC TO THOSE LESS FORTUNATE

Detroit – Musicians of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra are once again bringing the gift of music to those less fortunate this holiday season.  The musicians will be performing seasonal favorites at three locations:

1)    Monday, Dec. 5 at 2pm, the DSO Bassoon Quartet will perform at the Tumaini Center (map).

2)    Monday, Dec. 12 at 2pm, Cut Time Players will perform at the Mariners Inn (map).

3)    Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 5pm, the DSO Brass Quintet will perform at the Ruth Ellis Center (map).

The Musicians of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra performed at these same shelters as part of their ongoing series of concerts during the six-month strike. The DSO and its musicians are now back to work and busy with a full schedule of holiday concerts, but the musicians are pleased to be continuing these appearances as well. “We want to give something back to our city, and many of these people have never heard the DSO before. It’s nice to brighten their day a little,” said DSO hornist Bryan Kennedy.

“Last year, we had people singing, clapping, and dancing in the aisles” recalled Rick Robinson, DSO Bassist, and founder of Cut Time Players, one of the performing groups.

Every year at this time, the MDSO also donates $1,000 to COTS and $1,000 to St Patrick’s Church.
